The Kincardine Police Services Board is continuing the support of a school resource officer working with students at elementary and secondary schools.

An SRO is a dedicated person who acts as the main contact for schools and police officers, connecting students, teachers, mental health social workers, guidance counselors and more.

From 2007-2019, the position was funded partially through the Safer Communities Grant.

The need for police around schools also comes with an increase of calls which in 2023, officers responded to 419 calls for service in the schools, nearly double what was seen in 2022.

Calls for support include things from assaults, threats, trouble with youth as well as attending events and traffic monitoring.
