March is Fraud Prevention Month and Grey-Bruce OPP are putting a focus on some of the most common frauds reported.
OPP are seeing an increase in calls of individuals who have found an item on sites like Facebook Marketplace and Kijiji who fraud occurring among all age groups.
The buyer will send an e-transfer to hold an item and when the buyer heads to the address to pick up the item the homeowner says they were never selling the item or no home was given.
The buyer will then try to message the seller only to find the profile has been deleted or they’ve been blocked.
Grey-Bruce OPP are reminding residents if something is too good to be true including for a cheap price it likely is a scam.
