The Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority is making changes to permitting process due to new provincial legislation.

Changes include reducing review perimeter around significant wetlands from 120 meters to 30, exclusion of headwaters streams without district beds and banks from the review, extended regulation by 15 meters along Lake Huron’s dynamic beaches.

Among the bigger changes includes enhanced enforcement powers including the authority for Stop Work Orders and increased fines for non compliance reaching as high as $50,000 for individuals and $100,000 for corporations.

SVCA staff remain dedicated to providing support and clarity regarding these legislative changes.
