The Avon Maitland District School Board is partnering with the Strong Start Charitable Organization to help bring evidence based Letters, Sounds and Words program to schools across the region.
The initiative supports early literacy development by offering targeted one on one support to children in Year 2 kindergarten through grade 2.
The 10 week program is rooted in the science of reading and aligned with Ontario’s language curriculum.
Graham Shantz, Director of Education with AMDSB says Letters, Sounds and Words supports the latest research in reading development and they look forward to having the youngest students benefit from this engaging program.
