Bruce County residents are being invited out for the Walk for Wenjack events taking place across the area.

The Walk was sparked by a national initiative led by the Gord Downie and Chanie Wenjack Fund seeking to honour Chanie’s memory and get conversations going around the impacts of residential schools.

The walks which have been running across the area for the last month will now see a walk circle to Kincardine this weekend on the 18th.

Lori Fioze, Manager of Strategic Initiatives with the Municipality of Kincardine says the walk will also include some points around Chanie’s journey.

“We’ll be giving participants a guide and we’ll have some volunteer guides who will help us point along his walk so he can learn about his journey.” said Fioze.

The 2km walk will start at the Gazebo at Station Beach and follow the boardwalk and sidewalks along Huron Terrace to Dunsmoor Park.

Registration is encouraged and can be done here.
