The Alexandra Marin & General Hospital and the South Huron Hospital Association issued a joint release on Thursday announcing the two boards are set to merge in December.
They say it is the start of creating regional healthcare services for their communities.
The new single governing board will make decisions for both hospitals and as such have been working on a new strategic plan that will guide the organization over the next few years.
The Foundations for each hospital they say are vital to the work they do and will remain seperate and work closely with each respective community to raise much-needed funds for patient care.
In the new year the boards say there will be consultations with communty stakeholders to start discussions about what healthcare will look like for hteir communities over the next few decades.
