Federal & Provincial Government announces More Funding for Broadband Access in Huron County

The Federal and Provincial Government announced today that they are investing more than $3.8 million dollars to bring fast, reliable high-speed internet to more than 1,570 families, farms and businesses in Huron County.

Lisa Thompson, MPP for Huron-Bruce says she is proud that the government continues to deliver on their commitment to expand access to high-speed internet in rural communities across the province.

In partnership with SWIFT Inc, the completed construction of broadband infrastructure is now providing access to more than 1,090 families, farms and businesses in Summerhill, Henfryn, Thames Road, Lumley, Hurondale, Wroxeter, Gorrie and Fordwich.

Both levels of government each committed nearly $1.6 million to the projects.

In addition, both levels of government combined to invest more than $676,000 to support construction of additional infrastructure in Huron Coiunty, to provide high-speed internet to more than 170 families, farms and businesses in Marnoch.

With the support of investments from Huron County, construction is also underway to provide high-speed internet to 310 families, farms and businesses in rural areas near Blue Water Beach, and in areas south of Benmiller by June 2023.
