Wingham native, short story writer and Nobel prize winner Alice Munro has passed away at the age of 92.

Munro is most known for her everyday life examination through short story fiction who was well acclaimed for her stories which dove into darkness and desires found in ordinary existence.

Her work eventually landed her the Nobel Prize in Literature in 2013.

She was also well acclaimed with the Man Booker International Prize in 2009 and a slew of Giller Prizes.

Munro had been dealing with dementia for more than ten years.
