The significant rainfall that is expected to reach our area has prompted the Saugeen Valley Conservation Authority to issue a water safety statement.
In a news release, they say that while they don’t expect to see any significant flooding, the amount of rain could cause rivers to reach bankfull conditions with the potential of flooding in low-lying areas.
Environment Canada say up to 60 millimetres of rain is possible by Tuesday with more rain in areas that experience thunderstorms.
Saugeen Conservation says there is uncertainty of the location and duration of these storm cells.
They are advising recreational river users to take extra precaution over the next 72 hours.
They say the water safety statement will remain in effect until Wednesday afternoon at 4 or until further notice.
