The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority shared a reminder on the use of rock salt  and other ice melters on surfaces in order to combat ice.

They say that rock sold works best between 0 and minus 10 celcius.

When temperatures are below that it is too cold for salt to be effective, and recommend using alternatives to create traction on slippery or icy surfaces such as sand.

They say to read the product packaging of what you are buying to see what temperature it works best at.
