The Huron County OPP, Huron County Paramedics and Bluewater Fire responded to the incident Saturday afternoon just north of Bayfield.
First responders arrived around 2:20 pm on June 10th to a beachfront address in Central Huron to an incident involving a pleasure craft operator in distress.
Life saving measures were performed on the individual and they were brought to shore.
A 32-year-old Bluewater resident was pronounced deceased at the scene.
While assisting at the marine emergency, a 46-year-old volunteer from Bluewater experienced a medical emergency themselves, and was transported to a Goderich hospital, where they were pronounced deceased.
The cause of the two tragic deaths is under investigation, with post-mortem examinations scheduled for both.
