While its summertime and not many are thinking about cold weather, Goderich Mayor Trevor Bazinet is already planning ahead for fundraising.
Among one of his most impactful events across the community is Coldest Night of the Year with United Way held in February annually where residents register in their area and walk and raise funds to support homelessness.
Looking to the event for 2025, Bazinet had the idea to camp out following in the footsteps of the New York Yankees.
“Their General Manager Brian Cashman sleeps outside one night a year and I thought I should do this. So I want to do this the night before Coldest Night of the Year to raise more awareness and more money.” said Bazinet.
Bazinet pointed out during a recent council meeting to challenge his fellow councilors to join him on this trek.
