Blyth Festival has marked its 50th anniversary with a $500,000 matching gift campaign.

The campaign dubbed 500k For Another 50 Years has been anchored by a $250,000 pledge from the Margaret and Andrew Stephens Family Foundation based in Canmore, Alberta.

The gift marks as one of the largest the festival has ever received from a private donour.

Both Andrew and Margaret Stephens grew up in southwestern Ontario and the family made Huron Shores and Blyth part of their summer vacations.

More support has already poured in the campaign with David Southern and Susan Carlyle of London and another anonymous family pledging $50,000.
