The Municipality of Brockton has kept busy at this weeks Association of Municipalities of Ontario Conference.
Being held in Ottawa, Brockton spent time meeting with officials to discuss local issues.
Among them included with Parliamentary Assistant to the Minister of Finance, Dave Smith requesting the new property tax assessment cycle be reinstated as Brockton has seen significant growth with new construction but property tax assessment values are still based on January 1st, 2016, not reflecting current market value.
The municipality also met with Minister of Natural Resources, Mike Harris on greater and sustained funding for municipalities for flood mitigation, emergency preparedness, infrastructure protection and watershed planning.
