The Municipality of Brockton Council received a 2023 Draft Budget update at its Special Meeting held yesterday evening.

The update was following the presentation of the draft budget at the January 26th and 27th meetings.

The challenges impacting the budget this year was the slow recovery from the loss of revenue due to Covid-19, increased operating & capital costs for the Municipality and the frozen property assessments on homes at 2016 values.

Of greatest impact to the tax levy increase this year was the $200,000 transfer into the recreational reserve fund for a new area.

As passed the budget brings a 7.43% tax increase. It will mean $188 more per year in taxes on the average property.
