Bruce County Council, at their Thursday, April 21st meeting, approved among other things an amendment to the Town of Saugeen Shores Official Plan.

The site-specific provision would permit high-density residential uses on a 2.77-hectare site at the northeast intersection of Waterloo Street and Devonshire Road in Port Elgin.

The site is currently zoned Highway Commercial. The change would make it mixed-use and offer the opportunity for the creation of between 113 and 249 apartment-style housing units.

The land is currently vacant.
