Bruce County is urging residents to make sure they are prepared for longer power outages should they occur.
Weather events like high winds, freezing rain, flooding and spikes in electricity can all be factors for power outages.
As the weather shifts and winter approaches that prolonged outages can be challenging.
Bruce County says its important to have the supports for yourself and family for at least 72 hours without access to basic service.
An emergency kit such as this should include non perishable food and water, cash, extra medication, a full tank of gas and spare fuel and a battery powered radio to stay informed.
Ray Lux, Bruce County’s Emergency Management Coordinator says having an emergency plan and kit ensures your familys safety and peace of mind.
