Bruce-Grey-Owen Sound MPP Bill Walker announced this afternoon that the Province is investing $2.2 million dollars over three years to provide local police services with significant new resources they say will safeguard their communities.
Out of the 90 police boards announced, four local will be receiving funding through the Community Safety and Policing Grant Program.
Receiving funds are $84,000 to the Hanover Police Services for Community Trails and Downtown Safety, Grey Highlands Police with just over $98,000 for a School & Community Engagement & Safety Officer and West Grey Police with over $168,000 for enhancing police response to victims of violent crime.
The Owen Sound Police Services Board received a total of over $1.8 million dollars for three initiatives involving Community Oriented Response & Enforcement Unit Enhancement, Part Time Officer Program and a Mental Health Crisis Response Team.
The CSP Grant Program helps police services address priority issues identified in their communities.
