Bruce Power is set to begin their major component replacement of Unit 3.
It is scheduled to start in early 2023 after the Independent Electricity System Operator finished verifying the company’s plan for the project.
In a news release, Bruce Power President and CEO Mike Rencheck says this represents the next step in their life-extension program that will enable them to achieve their net zero targets.
The Unit 3 MCR is scheduled for completion in 2026.
They say once the project is done, Unit 3 will provide enough electricity to power over 800,000 homes in Ontario while contributing zero carbon emissions.
They also say the decarbonization of the electricity grid will create and sustain 22,000 jobs across Ontario and generate upwards of $10 Billion of economic activity each year.
