With winter now in for the long haul, the Town of Saugeen Shores is taking measures as usual to make sure the roads are cleared and safe as snowfall hits the area and will continue to over the next several months.
Saugeen Shores has taken on 20km of new sidewalk plowing which has seen the town add a new sidewalk snowplow and keeping busy with winter maintenance.
While only mid-December and just days before the official first day of Winter, Saugeen Shores Mayor Luke Charbonneau says they’ve already cleared truckloads of snow.
“We’ve already removed over 400 truck loads of snow from our downtowns this year so we’ve had a lot of work going on we’ve cleared 76km of sidewalk, 485 lane kilometers of road’ said Charbonneau.
Residents are also being reminded of the overnight winter parking bylaw in effect, prohibiting vehicles from being parked overnight from 2am-8am until March 31st to allow for proper snow clearing operations in town.
