The Cyprus Lake Campground will now be closed up to October 31st given increased bear activity in the area. During this time, backcountry campers are required to park at the Halfway Log Dump and Grotto parking reservations and day use areas are still open.
Parks Canada continues to assess the situation and work with reservation holders and if further closures are needed, it will be shared with the public.
The campground was first closed after a bear was noticed to be food conditioned to non natural foods, lost its fear of humans and was showing dangerous behavior.
Visitors are reminded to not let any wildlife get your food with littering, feeding wildlife and improperly storing food contributes to these situations.
