The South Bruce Grey Health Centre announced today that the Chesley Hospital Emergency Department will be returning to 24-Hour Service beginning June 15th.

The decision follows a similar decision at the Walkerton Emergency Department on May 8th. At the time 8 acute beds returned to the Chesley In-Patient Unit with the stability of staffing closely monitored.

South Bruce Grey Health Centre says that modelling for staffing requirements over the summer months will continue.

The Centre says the resumption of 24-Hour service at both sites is through the continued dedication & support of staff, the use of agency and casual nurses, externs and registered midwives.

They do avise though that the resumption doesn’t come without risk and there is a chance of a future time-limited reduction in service due to possible staffing issue.
