Citizen Referendum on Healthcare sees Strong Support for Public System

Nearly 9,900 votes cast locally and saw resounding support for the cause at 99% in support of the current healthcare model and only 132 in a move to privatized health care.

The results are in from the recent vote by the Grey Bruce Health Coalition who are advocating for the protection & improvement of public not-for-profit healthcare in the Region.

The recently held citizen-run referendum saw nearly 9,900 votes cast locally and saw resounding support for the cause at 99% in support of the current healthcare model and only 132 in a move to privatized health care.

Across the province the results were similar with a total of just over 382,000 votes cast and of that only just over 6,000 supporting privatization.

The group is optimistic that the Provincial government will listen to the results from the voters.
