35 households in Saugeen Shores have been able to maintain their housing off the success of the Municipal Housing Allowance Subsidy.
Being delivered by Bruce County, the allowance program provides eligible households with a monthly housing allowance to help offset costs and improve long term housing stability.
The town first partnered with Bruce County in 2023, contributing $75,000 to expand the program and enabled 10 additional Saugeen Shore households to get the allowance.
In 2024, the town increased funding to $150,000 and then $225,000 last year.
The program remains in high demand and is projected to provide $223,020 in housing assistance to 32 households for 2026.
