The downtown Kincardine street promenade is coming back this summer.

A motion by Councillor Laura Haight to reconsider was discussed at Monday’s Council meeting.

Haight used a section of Kincardine’s procedural by-law to revisit Council’s decision to not hold the downtown street promenade this summer.

The Councillor made her intentions known during the March 21st meeting that she will bring forward a motion to the meeting.

Haight says two members of Council (including Mayor Gerry Glover) were absent as well as Councillor Doug Kennedy declaring a conflict of interest for that March 21 meeting which saw two different motions be defeated in a 3-3 tie.

She says there was an appetite to have the promenade this summer, the question was for how many days.

Haight was originally against having Queen Street closed for the entire weekend during the months of July and August.

But in her motion to reconsider, it would close Queen Street between Durham Market and Lambton only on Sundays from 8 am to 6 pm during those two months.

The motion passed by a 6-3 vote.
