Kincardine council still needs more time to mull over the 2025 budget.
Over the course of multiple budget meetings, a breakdown of projects and work for the year has been looked at from road improvements to supporting a redevelopment project at the Kincardine Hospital.
Council has been sitting with the budget at an 8 per cent increase.
Mayor Kenneth Craig says while they’re trying their best to keep the number low, they have to work with what they got in terms of provincial legislation.
“Kincardine is facing significant taxation issues because of provincial legislation. It’s not because of Bruce Power, it’s not because of OPG. Provincial legislation has kept the assessment value of nuclear generating facilities at the same rate for the last 30 years or longer.” said Craig.
Council meet online instead of in the chambers with the coming winter storm from last night.
