Kincardine council has voted to not close the piers at the Kincardine Harbour throughout the winter.

At a meeting earlier this week a report came to close the north and south piers from November 1st to April 1st which would reduce staff risk when working the piers over the winter.

Pier safety continues to be a concern with working on the piers during the winter places staff in a hazardous situation.

Among a reason to keep the piers open was for recreational usage for surfers with councilor Rory Cavanagh saying people will still circumvent any barricades put up.

After back and forth discussion, council decided to keep the piers open.
