Just before the summer break at Queens Park, Premier Doug Ford has made a shuffle in his cabinet. Among the largest move will be Stephen Lecce and Todd Smith who are swapped roles.

Lecce will leave as Education Minister and become Energy Minister with Todd Smith now the Minister of Education.

The change comes as speculation has hit Ford will call an early election next spring, way before the scheduled June 2026 vote.

The change in cabinet can also been seen with local officials with Huron-Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson now the Minister of Rural Affairs.

In a statement Thompson says she will continue to be a strong voice on behalf of rural communities throughout the province.

MPP Rob Flack has been named as the Minister of Farming, Agriculture and Agribusiness.
