Employment Numbers in May saw slight Decrease in Unemployment Rate

Local unemployment across the Stratford-Bruce Economic Region saw a drop in May.

The rate decreased slightly by 0.1 percentage points to 5.9 per cent.

The labour force increased by 1000 jobs over the last month.

The biggest gains were seen in the goods producing sector with construction and manufacturing also seeing increases.

The largest loss was in Educational Services followed by Transportation and Warehousing.

Provincially, the unemployment rate increased 0.3 percentage points to 5.4%.
