EPCOR Bills Hit Customers with Shocking Figures

Some customers with EPCOR were shocked when bills came in the mail to find some owed hundreds or even thousands of dollars for natural gas usage.

EPCOR has confirmed these bills are not a scam and are indeed real with customers owing the amount they received.

In a statement to the Shoreline Classics Newsroom, EPCOR says the data transmission error is a program error with metre and not the billing system which had been under reporting for a period of time.

Customers have been given a calendar year to address the bill without any interest being added.

EPCOR’s billing error policy can be found below;

In the case of an error, please contact us as soon as it is discovered. Where billing errors have resulted in overbilling, the customer will be credited with the amount erroneously paid for a period of up to 6 years. Where billing errors have resulted in under-billing, the customer shall be charged with the amount erroneously not billed for a period of up to:

  • 2 years, in the case of an individual residential customer who was not responsible for the error, and
  • 6 years, in other cases.
