Farm Tractor collides with Building on Main Street in Seaforth

Investigation determined a 23-year-old of Huron East was operating the tractor at the time of the incident with cause to be determined.

The Main Street in Seaforth has been closed between Goderich Street and Gouinlock Street as the result of a farm tractor towing two trailers colliding with a commercial building at the corner of Main Street and John Street.

Police were called to the scene at around 8:05 pm and found that the tractor had left the roadway and impacted the building at around 8 pm.

The collision caused extensive damage to the structural integrity of the building, which contains a business in the lower half, and a residence in the upper.

The residents were home at the time of the collision, but thankfully were uninjured.

Investigation has determined that a 23-year-old of Huron East was operating the tractor at the time of the incident. He was uninjured as well.

The cause of the collision is still being determined.

The involved tractor will be removed only when it is safe to do so.

The road remains closed to vehicles at this time with pedestrian traffic being permitted to allow access to businesses in the area.
