Firefighters put out small fire at Port Elgin apartment complex

No one was hurt after a small fire in a downtown Port Elgin apartment complex.

Saugeen Shores Fire went to a Goderich Street building around 2:30 yesterday afternoon to find smoke coming from the upper level units.

A total of twenty firefighters from the Port Elgin and Southampton fire stations arrived at the scene.

An investigation revealed there was smoke coming from a roof cavity between two building.

The fire was quickly put out but one person was displaced and is staying with family.

Saugeen Shore Fire Prevention is investigating the cause.
