A flood outlook has been issued by the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority across all municipalities in the Maitland and Nine Mile River watersheds.
Given the amount of snowfall seen this winter, a snow survey conducted on Monday by staff found the snow water equivalent in the banks ranges from 90-170mm.
The weather for the rest of the week is increasingly warming up with a chance of rain bringing a substantial melt event.
While the extent of flooding will depend on temperature patterns and rainfall amounts, the overall flood risk is elevated.
