An investigation is underway by Unifor into its former National President.
Jerry Dias recently stepped down from the position for what was being called medical reasons.
He had taken a leave in February, days before an investigation began into allegations that he broke the union’s constitution.
Details of those allegations have not been released by Unifor.
Prior to the announcement of the investigation, Shoreline Classics spoke with Grey Bruce Labour Council Vice-President Dave Trumble about Dias’ departure.
He says Dias has accomplished a lot while at Unifor.
Trumble says he hopes the next President of Unifor will be able to reach out to all unions and labour groups in Canada and reconnect with them.
Unifor says their executive board will be meeting next Monday to discuss the next steps in finding Dias’ successor.
