Hospitals in Exeter and Goderich will now be overseen by a single board, after the Alexandra Marine and General Hospital and South Huron Hospital Association merged to form the Huron Health System.

In a release, Bruce Shaw, SHHA Board Chair, says the boards worked together for all of 2022 and the combined efforts helped them keep services near 100% when other hospitals were expriencing department closures due to staffing issues.

The Health System is now working on developing a new strategic plan that will serve as a roadmap for the hospitals in the coming years.

Together, the hospitals report combined revenue of $44 million and over 360 employees, 30 physicians and specialists, and 200 volunteers. They total 30,000 emergency room visits and 19,000 patient days annually.
