The Town of Goderich has formed a new Economic Development Committee.

This committee has been put together to help attract new industries, housing developers, support local job growth and build the community for the future.

The committee consists of many local community leaders as well as Mayor Trevor Bazinet and councilor Randy Carroll. Bazinet says this will allow them to get ideas going and help utilize space in town they’d like to see taken.

“We have a fair bit of service lands that we’d like to attract some industries. I’ve toured two manufacturers already in the town and one is definitely keen and we continue to communicate. By implementing this committee we can get together and put our heads together and come up with a working plan and see how we can attract more industry and workforce.” said Bazinet.

While some criticism has been drawn from the public on a lack of women on the committee, Bazinet says no women applied to be part of the committee.
