The Town of Goderich is moving forward with a new organic food waste program come September.

On top of normal waste and recycling pickup, the town is adding in organic waste as well as the addition of wheelie bins for garbage collection.

With the new addition for organic waste collection there will be much less organic waste going to landfill.

Goderich Mayor Trevor Bazinet says this move is all in the towns move to step up for the environment.

“At the end of the day we want to our part and help with the environment and have more of an environmental lens. A lot of people say they have compost in their backyard but with this waste, the organic waste its going to go to where it needs to go.” said Bazinet.

The new additions for the town for trash collection will all begin September 23rd.

An open house will be held on September 5th at the town hall from 3-6pm for everyone to get more information.
