The Liberal government has announced the renewal of a multi-million dollar federal gun and gang violence program.

Federal Minister of Public Safety, Marco Mendicino announced this morning the work of the government to prevent gang and gun violence.

“The Government of Canada is investing nearly $400 million to fight crime and violence under the renewed Guns and Gangs Action Fund” said Mendicino

Funding will be used for giving law enforcement the tools needed including people, resources and support to get the job done.

The Ontario government will see over $120 million of the fund.

The government says firearm related deaths in Canada have started to increase, reaching 277 in 2020.
