The Grey Bruce County Health Coalition attended Monday’s Major Protest on Health Care in Toronto at Queen’s Park.

Similar protests were held in Dryden, Algoma and Sault Ste. Marie.

The group had buses leaving from Chesley, Hanover, Durham, Owen Sound and Meaford.

The area has seen repeated closures of its emergency departments in Chesley, Walkerton and Durham and the burden of care being placed on the remaining facilities.

The protests are partly in response to Bill 60, known as the Your Health Act, which establishes a new legislative framework that expands the type of surgeries and procedures that can be done through community surgical & diagnostic centres as opposed to being done in Hospital.
