The Grey Bruce Health Unit issued a media release today advising residents to use caution as a more transmissible variant circulates in the area.
The alert comes after the Health Unit has seen a surge in outbreaks in long-term care, with 10 active outbreaks currently in Grey-Bruce.
They advise the trend is likely due to the highly transmissible Omicron sub-variant BA.5 which is now the dominant strain in Ontario.
Public Health reminds that getting up-to-date on vaccinations remains the best defense against severe illness and death and also is the most effective way to curb the virus’s spread.
