The Grey Bruce OPP are gearing up for its Civic Long Weekend Traffic Initiative Campaign.

It sees police out promoting and enforcing the Move Over law and The Big 4 Offences from August 4th to 7th.

The law requires a driver to move into another lane for an emergency vehicle or tow truck if it is safe to do so.

They also must slow down when passing the vehicles.

The file for failing to do so is $490 and a penalty of 3 demerit points. The Big 4 are unsafe driving behaviour of lack of a seat belt, aggressive, inattentive & distracted and impaired driving.

Police will be patrolling roadways, providing education & enforcement when necessary, to ensure everyone safely arrives at their destination.
