Grey Bruce Public Health has received reports of two fatal opioid overdoses within the past week.

GBPH is appealing to people who use unregulated street drugs to exercise extreme caution & follow critical harm reduction recommendations.

Fentanyl is the suspected opioid responsible for the overdoses. Program Manager of GBPH’s Harm Reduction portfolio says all street drugs should be deemed highly toxic & potentially fatal.

They urge everyone who uses them to take extra precautions like carrying a naloxone kit, not to mix substances, and start with a low dose and increase slowly.

Naloxone kits are available at participating pharmacies in Grey-Bruce, at Public Health and via their community partners.
