The Grey Bruce Regional Mock Trial Tournament made its return earlier this month with students from the Bluewater District School Board putting their skills to the test.
Taking place on May 8th at the Ontario Court of Justice, the tournament had students from five local secondary schools focusing on a criminal charge of theft over $5000.
Each school team prepared legal arguments representing the Crown and defence with teams providing lawyers, witnesses, court clerks and timekeepers for each trial.
The Honourable Justice Chorney presided over the final trial and challenged students and witnesses on arguments and statements with a not guilty verdict being decided and Grey Highland Secondary School named as the winning team.
