Hanover police are searching for a suspect who may have injuries after escaping authorities on a motorcycle earlier this week.

On Sept. 28 around 11:30 p.m., officers attempted to stop a dark-coloured, racing style motorcycle on 10th Street that was driving aggressively and popping wheelies.

The operator drove away at high speeds along County Road 4 and a pursuit wasn’t initiated for safety reasons. Minutes later, police were called to the scene of a collision along the same road involving the same motorcycle.

According to a witness, the driver lost control and slid a few hundred metres on the pavement before coming to a halt. The man told the witness he wasn’t injured and took off on the damaged motorcycle. Officers seized several parts of the motorcycle as evidence, along with a running shoe belonging to the driver.

Police are asking for the public’s help identifying the driver, who may have suffered road rash as a result. His bike will have damage down the right side consistent with sliding on pavement.

Anyone with information is asked to contact Hanover police or Crime Stoppers.
