Hanover Police warn of photo requests after attempted extortion

Hanover Police are still investigating an attempted extortion that took place last month.

According to police, the scammers contacted the victim using the stolen identity of a known friend. The scammer initiated a discussion requesting explicit pictures.

When the victim would not provide them, the scammer threatened to contact police and have them arrested unless they sent money.

Police remind everyone to remind suspicious and vigilant of anyone requesting explicit pictures or videos over the internet.
