It took five days, but Highway 21 has fully reopened.

Snow squalls hammered the region on Monday with high winds and more snowfall over the week kept Highway 21 closed for a length of time.

Kincardine to Port Elgin was the most affected stretch into the weekend with crews working to deal with the conditions.

The last known time the highway was closed for this long was reported in January 2018.
