Now that the weather is starting to get warmer, homeowners in the Kincardine area are being reminded to call before starting any backyard or gardening projects.

April is Ontario Dig Safe Month, and EPCOR and other gas and utility companies are advising residents on the importance of calling Ontario One Call to check to see if there are any cables, wires, or pipes buried underneath the property.

In a news release, they say homeowners are required by law to locate underground utilities before they even begin their project.

They say if a line gets severed, it could result in possibly fatal injuries.

Homeowners can also be held liable if the damage results in an outage.

They say now that natural gas is available to homes in Southern Bruce County, it is more important than ever to call before starting to dig.
