Hometown Horse Power of An Angel wins at Hanover Raceway

Power of Angel returned home to the Hanover Raceway and found her way to the winner’s circle in the first of five $21,450 Ontario Sires Stakes Grassroots divisions on Saturday.

The hometown filly battled Ontario’s best 2 year old pacing fillies to take the victory. She battled well from Post 2 and tucked in behind fan favourite Warrawee Xpat.

The filly rang up fractions of :28.4, 1:00.1 and 1:29 and then fought off a challenge from Speaker Nancy around the final turn.

She was three-wide when she printed home to a one length victory in 1:58.2

Driver James MacDonald from Guelph also won driving Girl Scout Cookie and In The Mood to their first Ontario Sire Stakes victories on the day.

Louis-Phillipe Roy, also from Guelph, drove Dewitt For Josie and Bob McClure of Rockwood wrapped up the stakes action with T Time Pat.
