The CEO of the Huron Perth Healthcare Alliance has released a statement following the introduction of a health-reform bill aimed at protecting against an exodus of workers to the expansion of private surgical clinics.
In the tweet HPHA CEO Andrew Williams says that as the government is investing net new resources into improving access, those opportunities need to extend to hospitals where they have physical capacity but not other resources or staff.
He adds that if there’s a parallel system expanding without a detailed plan it has the risk of very much destabilizing the system we have.
Guarding against poaching of staff is even more important in small-town hospitals, said HPHA CEO Andrew Williams.
"If there's a parallel system expanded without a detailed plan, it has the risk of very much destabilizing the system that we have," he said.
