In preparation of the Walton TransCan Races running this week until the 15th, Huron-Perth Healthcare Alliance nurses and doctors took part in mock trauma scenarios in Seaforth.

As the sport of motocross can bring with it, serious crashes and injury doctors were trained in safely removing specialized motocross equipment and management of common traumatic injuries.

HPHA Clinical Nurse Scholars reviewed key trauma management skills over the last month to prepare the medical team for the training session, partnering with the Walton Raceway lead medic, Ron Cameron who provided a component of the education training.

Clinical Nurse Educator Katie Fearns says the training ensures staff are confident and ready to manage the unique injuries associated with competitive motocross racing.
